Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate the Mass of the Oils on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:30 at St. Louis Church in Fort Kent. All are welcome.

On the Wednesday of Holy Week, the Parish of the Holy Eucharist will offer a Tenebrae service at Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate Mass for Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland.

Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the sacred Easter Triduum, which culminates with the celebration of Easter.

Students from St. Thomas School in Sanford will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at  10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Sanford.

Holy Cross School students will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross in South Portland.

Eighth graders from All Saints Catholic School will present the Living Stations of the Cross at St. John Church in Bangor at noon on Good Friday.

Embracing a Passamaquoddy tradition that goes back more than 100 years, parishioners will gather on Good Friday for the blessing of the waters of Sipuhsis Brook, located at Peter Dana Point.

Bishop Ruggieri will preside at a tri-lingual (English, French and Spanish) Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Church in Portland at 3 p.m.

On Good Friday, we recall Christ’s Passion and death. It is the only day of the Church calendar on which Mass is not celebrated. Instead, we gather quietly to pray, both for ourselves and those around us; to listen to Scripture; and to venerate the cross.

Bishop Ruggieri will celebrate the Passion of the Lord at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

One of the most beloved traditions for Polish Catholics, dating back to the early history of Poland, will be renewed with the blessing of Easter baskets at St. Louis Church on 279 Danforth Street in Portland on Holy Saturday, April 19, at noon. 

Bishop James Ruggieri will offer Readings and Prayer on Holy Saturday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 7:30 a.m.

The Missale Romanum reminds us that the Easter Vigil is the "mother of all vigils," the "greatest and most noble of all solemnities."

The Easter Sunday Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord is celebrated with great joy and music. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!”

Children are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt following the 8 a.m. Easter Sunday Mass at St. Mary of the Visitation Church in Houlton.
