The Aesthetic of Ascent: Ventures of Faith & Form

Renowned guest artists will explore the theme The Aesthetic of Ascent: Ventures in Faith and Form through presentations and artistic demonstrations focused on the transcendental of beauty.

Open to people of all ages, there will be something for everyone at this event hosted by the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes. It will include sculpture demonstrations, painting lessons, artisan exhibits, exhibits for children and youth, talks, prayer, and more.

Guest artists include Henry Wingate, a Virginia-based Catholic artist known for his classically inspired realist paintings, portraits, landscapes and sacred art; David Clayton, an internationally known artist, teacher, writer, and composer, who studied sacred art traditions in England and Florence, Italy; and Dony MacManus, an internationally recognized Irish sculptor, painter, and education, whose work is influenced by the masters of the Renaissance and by the Catholic understanding of beauty.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Register for some of the events or all of them. The cost is $45 for an individual, $85 for a couple or family, and $25 for a college student.
