Lenten Bible Study and Faith Sharing

During Lent, many parishes offer opportunities for Bible study, discussions, or faith-sharing groups to help parishioners grow in their relationship to Christ. You will find a list of some of the programs below.

All Saints Parish, Brunswick

Lenten Book Groups - Bath, Brunswick, Newca

All Saints Parish in Brunswick wil have small groups meeting to reflect on Matthew Kelly's book 33 Days of Eucharistic Glory. Quiet groups will be guided by trained leaders to enable honest sharing. If you want to consider your relation to the Eucharist, join a small group and pick up your free book. There are several locations from which to choose. Register here.

Bible Study - Portland

Bible study is held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Cathedral Residence, 307 Congress Street in Portland.

Christian Life Center, Frenchville

The Seven Sorrows of Mary - Frenchville

On the Fridays of Lent, the Christian Life Center, 444 U.S. Route One in Frenchville, will host Fasting Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A discussion will be held about the Seven Sorrows of Mary. There will be time for adoration, reflection, and adoration, and the day will conclude with a meatless luncheon meal.

Corpus Christi Parish, Winslow

Back to the Beginning, Journey to Genesis - Waterville/Winslow

Small group discussion groups will be held in the hall of St. John Church, 26 Monument Street in Winslow, on March 8, 8, 15, and 22, 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., and at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville, on the Sundays of Lent from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Rocking Chair Room. Both groups conclude on Palm Sunday.

Lenten Book Study - Oquossoc

Bible Class with Sister Bernadette - Rumford

Sister Bernadette Gaudreau will lead a Bible class, "Breaking Open the Bread of God's Word" on the Thursdays of Lent at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Athanasius & St. John Church, 126 Maine Avenue in Rumford. This class meets weekly during the school year, but Lent is a wonderful time to join the group.

Biblical Walk through the Mass - Mexico

"A Biblical Walk through the Mass" explores the extraordinary biblical roots of the Liturgy and reveals what it all means and why it all matters. This fascinating tour of the Mass will renew your faith and deepen your love for and devotion to the Holy Eucharist. Sessions will be held on the Mondays of Lent at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory of the Parish of the Holy Savior, 7 Brown Street in Mexico.

St. Christopher Parish, Peaks Island

Bible Study - Peaks Island

Bible Study will be held on Thursdays at 10 a.m. in the hall of St. Christopher Church, 15 Central Avenue on Peaks Island.

St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent

No Greater Love Bible Study - Fort Kent

Take an extraordinary journey through the final hours of Jesus's life through this Bible study that is really a pilgrimage that reveals Christ's amazing love for us. Participants will walk step-by-step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to Mount Calvary. The Bible study begins February 19 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Louis Church in Fort Kent and continues until March 26. Books can be purchased for $8. How to have an Amazing Lent - Calais

People of all ages are invited to come together on February 8, following the 8:30 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, 31 Calais Avenue in Calais, for fellowship and to learn how to have an amazing Lent in 2026.

Lent with Our Holy Fathers - Portland

Reflections on Lent with Our Holy Fathers will be held on the Mondays of Lent following the 7 a.m. Mass at St. Peter Church, 72 Federal Street in Portland. The reflection group will meet in Monsignor DiMingo Hall, net to the church.
