Divine Mercy Sunday Celebrations 2025

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, the Octave of Easter, which this year is April 27, 2025. Below you will find a list of celebrations taking place in the Diocese of Portland.

Celebrations Around the Diocese
All Saints Parish, Brunswick
St. Mary Church, 144 Lincoln Street, Bath - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., and a Holy Hour will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and include readings from St. Faustina's Diary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Benediction.
Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Falmouth
The Parish of the Holy Eucharist will hold a solemn celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday at Holy Martyrs of North America Church, 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will begin with eucharistic adoration and include veneration of the Divine Mercy image, reading from St. Faustina’s diary, the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, meditation, Litanies of the Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy, and Benediction. The opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation begins at 1:30 pm and remains throughout the service.
The Parish of the Holy Eucharist also invites you to join in praying the Divine Mercy Novena, which begins on Good Friday and continues through Divine Mercy Sunday. Parish of the Holy Savior, Mexico
St. Athanasius & St. John Church, 126 Maine Avenue, Rumford - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held beginning at 1 p.m. with the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation, followed by the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 2 p.m.
Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town
Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street, Old Town - People are invited to gather at 2 p.m. for the conclusion of the Divine Mercy Novena, a Holy Hour, and confessions, followed by prayers including the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m.
St. Agnes Parish, Pittsfield
St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Street, Pittsfield - A Divine Mercy Sunday service will begin with adoration from 2:30 p.m. to 2:55 p.m., afterw hich the ninth day of the novena will be prayed and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be sung.
St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, Camden
St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Court Street, Belfast - A Divine Mercy celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m. and include prayers and singing of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
St. John Paul II Parish, Scarborough
St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin at 3 p.m. and will include eucharistic adoration and the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The sacrament of reconciliation will also be available.
St. Joseph Parish, Bridgton
St. Joseph Church, 225 South High Street, Bridgton - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration of prayer and fellowship will begin at 2 p.m.
St. Joseph Parish, Ellsworth
St. Joseph Church, 231 Main Street, Ellsworth - St. Joseph parish will hold a potluck lunch, which will include the showing of a movie on the history of the "real" divine mercy painting that was produced by Daniel DaSilva. The potluck lunch will begin following the 11 a.m. Mass, with the movie shown at 12:30 p.m.
St. Joseph Parish, Farmington
St. Joseph Church, 133 Middle Street, Farmington - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin at 3 p.m. with exposition of the Blessed Sarament, followed by the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The chaplet will be recited again at 4 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Benediction will be held at 4:45 p.m., followed by Mass at 5 p.m.
St. Louis Parish, Portland
St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland - The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed and a Divine Mercy Holy Hour held at 3 p.m.
St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, Houlton
St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 110 Military Street, Houlton - The sacrament of reconciliation will be available from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 2:30 p.m., and the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m.
St. Michael Parish, Augusta
St. Francis Xavier Church, 130 U.S. Route 133, Winthrop - The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited prior to the 8 a.m. Mass.
St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor
St. Teresa Church, 425 South Main Street, Brewer - Parishioners are invited to a Divine Mercy Sunday Holy Hour at 2:30 pm at St. Teresa Church in Brewer. The Holy Hour will include exposition, adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song. At 4 p.m., Mass will follow the Holy Hour.
St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Machias
Holy Name of Jesus Church, 8 Free Street, Machias - The Divine Mercy Chapel will be prayed before the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 27.
Sacred Heart Church, 14 Hamilton Street, Lubec - The Divine Mercy Chapel will be prayed before the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Sunday, April 27.
St. Michael Church, 51 Elm Street, Cherryfield - The Divine Mercy Chapel will be prayed before the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 27.
