A presentation that aims to help people become effective agents of compassion and to speak mercy, empathy, and love to post-abortive men and women is set for March 22.

The social justice and peace commission at St. Joseph Parish in Bridgton is sponsoring a chocolate tasting event featuring Equal Exchange Fair-Trade chocolate at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fryeburg.

This month, St. Mary of the Visitation Parish in Houlton and St. Brendan the Navigator Parish in Camden are holding baby bottle drives to provide practical help and support for women and men served at local pregnancy care centers.

Those who can assist are asked to bring hats, mittens, scarves, socks, and t-shirts, in adult and children’s sizes, to any of the three locations and hang them on the clotheslines.

“9 Days for Life” will run from Thursday, January 19, through Friday, January 27, and is a novena for the protection of life. Each day’s intention is accompanied by a short reflection and suggested actions to help build a culture of life.

Students at St. Brigid School in Portland will participate in a special three-day music residence with professional Gospel singer and The Voice contender Delvin Choice on January 23-25.

The feast day celebration at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul in Lewiston commemorated the Blessed Mother's appearance to St. Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531.

This important feast commemorates Mary being conceived without the stain of original sin and created full of grace, making her a fitting mother for Jesus.

A special collection will be held during all Masses in Maine churches on Dec. 10-11 to help over 30,000 elderly Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests.
