Sister Herminia Cayosa, SSS
Please join in praying for the repose of the soul of Sister Herminia Cayosa, SSS, a member of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament who died June 7, 2026, at the age of 97.
Sister Herminia was born in Pamplona, Cagayan in the Philippines on November 24, 1928, the youngest of six children and the only daughter of Domingo and Cecilia Cayosa.
From her youth, she had a great desire for religious life but delayed entering the convent to care for her mother. She professed her first vows with the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament on September 3, 1968.
In 1983, Sister Herminia transferred to convents in the United States to help maintain the eucharistic centers of prayer and counseling for community friends. She served in Pueblo, Colorado; Waterville, Maine; and Moncton, New Brunswick Canada. In 1997, she became an American citizen.
Sister Herminia was a gifted artist and seamstress and maintained an abundant correspondence.
Funeral Services
A wake for Sister Herminia will be held on June 18 at 9 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 101 Silver Street in Waterville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Bishop James Ruggieri will preside.
