O Antiphons Reflection - Winslow

Sunday, December 14 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Join the Secular Franciscans on Sunday, December 14,  for a reflection and discussion on the Franciscan perspective of the O Antiphons.

The Church has been singing the O Antiphons since at least the eighth century. They are short prayers that are prayed on the days leading up to Christmas Eve. You may recognize them because they make up the verses of the Advent hymn "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel." Each of the antiphons begins with "O," from which they get their name, and with a different title for Christ. They then contain a plea for Christ to "come" to teach, to rescue, to free, and to save us.
